How did cases go up despite masks?


Easy. Masks aren't 100% effective, which no one disputes.

It may reduce the transmission rate yet the transmission rate remains above 1. That would mean that cases still go up, they just go up slower.

Given that wearing a mask approaches zero in cost and effort, it'd be a pretty good return on investment even if it isn't a magical bullet no one expected it to be.
